Abstract
Polyarteritis nodosa is systemic necrotizing vasculitis that predominantly affects small and medium-sized arteries and produces infarction, thrombosis and aneurysm formation in many organs. It causes intracranial aneurysms but it is rare. The authors report a case of polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) with bilateral giant internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysms treated with endovascular method. Coil embolizations were performed to bilateral giant ICA aneurysms and a small aneurysm in right proximal ICA. Follow up cerebral angiogram after 3 months showed no interval change after treatment. To our knowledge, this case is the first report of endovascular treatment of bilateral giant ICA aneurysms in PAN patient.
